Here at XPO, we’re looking for a talented Transport Planner to join us on a full-time, permanent basis on our Ibstock contract in Runcorn. The Transport Planner will oversee the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of services across the fleet. Working closely with drivers and the wider transport team, the role is responsible for planning, scheduling, and fleet utilisation to deliver excellent customer service and operational performance.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £28,500. We offer 20 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts, cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension and many other perks.
What you’ll do on a typical day:

Manage daily transport operations, including scheduling, route planning, and fleet utilisation, ensuring efficient delivery performance and effective use of resources.

Oversee drivers and fleet activities, providing support and guidance to ensure operational standards and customer requirements are consistently met.

Liaise with drivers, customers, and internal teams to resolve issues and maintain service levels.

Ensure all operations comply with ADR, Driver CPC, tachograph, Working Time Directive, and Operator Licence requirements, with safety remaining a key priority.

Respond effectively to operational disruptions, delays, and emergencies, implementing corrective actions to minimise impact and prevent recurrence.

Monitor and review operational performance data to identify trends, improve efficiencies, and support informed decision-making.

Maintain accurate transport records and ensure all documentation is completed in line with company procedures.

Support the continuous improvement of transport processes and contribute to a positive and collaborative working environment.
What you need to succeed at XPO:

Previous experience within transport, logistics, or planning is desirable.

Good understanding of transport legislation, including ADR, Driver CPC, tachograph regulations, and Operator Licence requirements.

Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment.

Confident using transport management systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with drivers, customers, and colleagues.

Ability to work independently and make informed operational decisions.
