We're looking for compassionate, resilient, and motivated Children's Support Workers to join our therapeutic children's residential home in MK42, Bedford. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dedicated team providing outstanding care for children who have experienced trauma, adversity, and complex life experiences.
Working within a therapeutic care model, you'll help create a safe, nurturing, and stable home where children feel valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
The Role
As a Children's Support Worker, you'll play a key role in providing consistent, relationship-based care that supports the emotional, social, and personal development of the children in our home.
This role involves working a rota of long-day shifts with sleep-ins, ensuring continuity of care and positive routines for the young people we support.
Your Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, child-centred care in a safe and nurturing environment.
- Build trusting, positive relationships with children and young people.
- Support children with daily routines, education, appointments, and leisure activities.
- Promote emotional wellbeing, resilience, confidence, and independence.
- Apply therapeutic approaches to support children who have experienced trauma.
- Manage challenging situations calmly and professionally using positive behaviour support strategies.
- Complete daily records, care plans, and reports accurately.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for each child.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times.
About You
We're looking for individuals who are:
- Passionate about supporting children and young people.
- Caring, patient, resilient, and emotionally intelligent.
- Experienced in children's residential care, youth work, education, social care, or another child-focused support role (desirable but not essential).
- Committed to working within a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach.
- Flexible to work long-day shifts and sleep-ins on a rota basis.
- Excellent communicators with a positive, team-focused attitude.
Desirable
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and therapeutic care.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
