Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Independent Prescribing Pharmacist to join our two IP pharmacists who work across our LT Chemists and Lliswerry pharmacy located in Newport Gwent. Newly qualified IP pharmacists are also encouraged to apply as we can support you in developing your scope of practice. This role is a 13 month contract to cover a maternity leave. You will utilise your expertise to assess, diagnose, and prescribe medications confidently and responsibly, ensuring optimal patient care. Your proactive approach and comprehensive knowledge will contribute significantly to improving health outcomes within the community. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead patient-centered care while working collaboratively with our GP practices.
The successful candidate will also support day-to-day dispensing activities, branch operations, and the continued development of clinical and private healthcare services within the pharmacy.
We have recently refitted Lliswerry pharmacy to include two consulation rooms and use Pharmacy X PMR system to free up our pharmacists time.
In addition to the base salary this role includes:
Quarterly bonus based on activity
five weeks holiday (pro rata)
GPhC fees paid
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine medication needs and treatment.
- Prescribe medications independently in accordance with your clinical scope and legal regulations
- Monitor patient progress, adjusting prescriptions as necessary for safety and effectiveness
- Provide expert advice on medication administration, potential side effects, and interactions
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care
- Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of all prescribing activities and patient interactions
- Stay current with evolving clinical practices and regulatory requirements
Requirements
- Qualified Independent Prescribing Pharmacist with a registration as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Strong clinical assessment and prescribing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional patient care in fast-paced community pharmacy settings.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and patients
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and maitaining up to date clinical knowledge.
- accredited to deliver DMR, CAS, EC,Smoking cessation and supervised consumption.
Pay: £35,000.00-£37,500.00 per year
