This post is an excellent opportunity for a doctor who is pursuing a career in gastroenterology but requires more experience before joining the specialist training programme.
This is a less than full time post (80%).
We are looking for a motivated candidate and are committed to supporting them in progressing towards successful application to the gastroenterology specialist training programme.
The duties of the post are primarily focussed on supporting the management of the in-patient gastroenterology bed base, which currently consists of a dedicated 19 bed ward. Alongside this, you would support the delivery of a ‘hot clinic’ for urgent assessment of outpatients and follow up of recently discharged patients.
Alongside this, the post holder will contribute to the out-of-hours general medical rota.
The post-holder will work alongside 3 speciality trainees to deliver this work, leaving ample opportunity for gaining valuable experience in endoscopy (we have supported non-training doctors in endoscopy training), outpatients and service development/audit.
