Programme Manager – Children & Young People’s Programmes
Locations: Manchester and/or Leeds
Hours: Approx. 9:45am–5:15pm
Days: Manchester – Sundays | Leeds – Saturdays & Sundays
Pay: £20 per hour
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Regular weekend work during school terms, with opportunities for additional work during school holidays
About the Role
Ballet Britain is looking for enthusiastic, highly organised and confident Programme Managers to join our team and help oversee our children and young people’s programmes in Manchester and Leeds.
This is a hands-on, front-of-house management role and you will be the lead person on site, helping to ensure each programme day is safe, welcoming, professional and runs smoothly from start to finish.
You will manage and support the on-site staff team, oversee the day-to-day organisation of the programme and act as a key point of contact for parents, students and teaching staff.
You will be supported by an off-site supervisor, and full training will be provided before beginning the role.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the lead member of staff on site throughout the programme day
- Managing, coordinating and supporting the on-site staff team
- Ensuring the programme timetable runs smoothly and efficiently
- Overseeing student sign-in and sign-out procedures
- Ensuring appropriate safeguarding, health and safety and welfare procedures are followed
- Acting as a first point of contact for parents and guardians
- Handling queries, concerns or issues professionally and confidently
- Supporting students throughout the day and helping to create a positive and welcoming environment
- Liaising with teachers and other members of the Ballet Britain team
- Responding calmly and appropriately to incidents, injuries or unexpected situations
- Completing relevant incident, accident or safeguarding documentation when required
- Ensuring programme spaces remain organised, safe and professional
- Communicating any important information or concerns to the off-site supervisor
- Helping with the smooth opening and closing of each programme day
About You
We are looking for someone who is:

- Comfortable taking responsibility as the lead person on site
Previous experience in programme management, education, performing arts, children's activities, events, front-of-house management, schools or a similar environment would be beneficial.
You do not need to be a dance teacher or have professional dance experience to apply.
Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be 21 years or over
- Be able to drive to the programme location
- Be available for regular weekend work during school terms
- Be willing to undertake relevant safeguarding and role-specific training
- Be comfortable working with children and young people in a position of responsibility
The successful applicant will be required to complete the appropriate safer recruitment and safeguarding checks, including an Enhanced DBS check, due to the nature of the role.
First Aid training is desirable; however, training can be provided where required.
Working With Ballet Britain
Our programmes are designed to provide children and young people with high-quality training in a positive, supportive and inspiring environment.
The Programme Manager plays an important role in creating that experience. While our teaching team leads the artistic delivery of the programme, you will ensure everything surrounding the classes is organised, safe and running smoothly.
You will receive full training and guidance for the role and will have access to an off-site supervisor should you require additional support during a programme day.

The role begins in September 2026 and offers regular weekend work throughout school terms, with the potential for additional work across Ballet Britain programmes during school holidays.
