The post holder will promote the mental, physical and emotional health of individuals, families and groups and be aware of the needs of children, families and carers including vulnerable children. You will also have knowledge or understanding of partnership working, such as GP’s, shared community services and local education authority. Assist in the delivery of the school and community immunisation programmes following local policies, PGDs, and SOPs.
Administer vaccines safely, ensuring correct cold chain storage, handling, and accurate documentation.
Prepare, transport, and maintain immunisation equipment and vaccine stocks for sessions.
Act as Lead Nurse when fully competent, supervising and mentoring bank nurses, students, and other team members.
Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge and participate in professional development, training, and audits.
Communicate effectively with children, young people, families, and multidisciplinary teams, adapting language and approach to individual needs.
Support children and families, addressing anxieties, concerns, or complaints, and act as an advocate where appropriate.
Participate in policy development, service improvement, and implementation of immunisation programmes.
Organise workload independently, ensuring accurate record-keeping, data management, and reporting.
Take appropriate action in safeguarding concerns and adhere to NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
Provide evidence-based advice on immunisations, including side effects, to children, parents, and the public.
Contribute to meetings, working groups, and professional discussions, supporting team communication and cohesion.
Participate in audits, research, and mandatory training; supervise and teach students, junior staff, and carers.
Undertake other duties as required consistent with the role and grade of the post.
