Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for technology and a desire to develop their skills within a professional environment. The successful candidate will provide technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance across various systems. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your IT skills whilst working closely with our IT team to ensure seamless operations.
This position is immediate start and is office-based in Prestwich. Please consider your commute as you must be able to get to the office daily. This is not a remote-based job.
Responsibilities
- Provide desktop support to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues efficiently
- Assist with the configuration, installation, and maintenance of computer hardware and peripherals
- Support network infrastructure including computer networking, LAN, VPN, DNS, TCP/IP, and firewall configurations
- Manage user accounts and permissions using Active Directory and assist with user onboarding and offboarding processes
- Monitor and troubleshoot operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and Linux environments
- Utilise tools like SCCM, ServiceNow, Jira, and BMC Remedy for incident tracking and asset management
- Perform routine system updates, software troubleshooting, and help desk support to ensure minimal downtime
- Collaborate with the IT team to implement security measures including firewall management and network analysis
- Maintain documentation of technical procedures and assist in analysing system performance issues
- Communicate effectively with end-users to provide clear guidance on technical issues while delivering excellent customer service
Responsibilities & Required Skills
- Database: Excel (must have basic knowledge of formulas) and SQL Server. You will be tidying up large Excel files, creating reports, managing duplicate records and managing SQL Server databases.
- CRM: We use the Zoho CRM system to manage claims. You will be managing changes, workflows, users and templates. Training will be given.
- G Suite: Create accounts, manage users, reset passwords, back up email data and disable accounts.
- Devices/Operating Systems: Basic knowledge required in setting up desktops and laptops, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software faults, and managing printers and users.
- Routers and Switches: Basic knowledge required to change ports when setting up new devices.
- Phones: Managing users, downloading call logs and recordings, and managing settings such as IVR, call routing and other configurations.
- Managing Backups: Managing CRM, email, phone and device backups.
- Antivirus: Setting up new devices, managing and troubleshooting.
- Inventory: Creating and managing inventory, keeping it up to date.
- Workflows: Setting up new workflows, amending existing ones and troubleshooting (studying logs). Must have a strategic mindset to be able to understand and build workflows.
- Communication: You will be answering phone calls and dealing with suppliers' and colleagues' queries via phone and email.
- Work Environment: Must be able to work at a fast pace and under pressure.
- Eligibility: Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK without sponsorship and be seeking permanent employment.
Essential Requirements
Must have experience with computers and Microsoft Office. The ideal candidate will be passionate about IT and Microsoft Office and enjoy problem-solving.
Desirable Skills
- Web Development: Knowledge of web development would be a bonus and highly desirable.
- Artificial Intelligence (AI): Experience and education in AI technologies would be a bonus and highly desirable.
