We are looking for a motivated, reliable, and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our growing team in Birmingham.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with day-to-day accounting and financial administration.
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Process invoices, receipts, payments, and expenses.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Maintain and update supplier, customer, and related ledgers.
- Perform bank and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and maintain monthly fuel consumption trackers for field staff.
- Prepare monthly wage reports for field staff and communicate with staff to resolve payment-related queries.
- Monitor outstanding invoices and payments.
- Prepare financial reports and summaries.
- Support the senior accountant with month-end activities.
- Maintain organised accounting records and filing systems.
- Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of financial information.
Requirements
- AAT qualification or a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in an accounting or finance role is desirable.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including spreadsheets and financial trackers.
- Experience with accounting software is an advantage.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when dealing with field staff and suppliers.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Professional and confidential approach when handling payroll and financial information.
