HR Support Officer G5 – Admin & Clerical
Hours: 37 Hours Per Week, Mon – Fri
Contract: 8 Week Temporary Assignment
We're recruiting an HR Support Officer G5 – Admin & Clerical to support the Human Resources and People Services team. This is a key administrative role, ideal for someone with experience in HR administration, payroll support, and employee services, who is confident handling HR enquiries and providing efficient day-to-day operational support.
About the Role:
As an HR Support Officer, you'll provide accurate and timely HR administrative support across the organisation, assisting with recruitment, onboarding, employee records, payroll processes, and HR services. You'll act as the first point of contact for HR and payroll enquiries, working closely with managers and employees while ensuring compliance with organisational policies, GDPR, and data protection requirements.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Acting as the first point of contact for HR and payroll enquiries through the People Portal, email, and face-to-face communication
- Providing efficient HR administrative support to the HR and People Services team
- Supporting recruitment and onboarding activities, including job adverts, shortlisting candidates, pre-employment checks, and issuing contracts
- Maintaining accurate employee records and updating HR systems for starters, leavers, and employee changes
- Processing payroll information and assisting with payroll-related queries
- Administering employee benefits and supporting the implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Preparing HR reports, including absence monitoring and workforce data reports
- Supporting HR projects, audits, and policy updates
- Providing general administrative support, including meeting note-taking, document management, and other HR-related tasks
- Handling confidential information in line with GDPR, data protection requirements, and organisational standards
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone proactive, organised, and experienced in administration or HR support, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
You'll Ideally Have:
- Previous administrative experience, preferably within an HR environment
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Good communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
- Strong IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications and HR systems
- Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise tasks effectively
- Understanding of GDPR and data protection requirements
- Relevant qualification or equivalent experience, such as NVQ Level 3
- Ability to work effectively within a team and follow procedures
- Eligibility to work in the UK
Nice-to-Have:
- CIPD Level 3 qualification or working towards it
- Previous experience with HR systems and payroll processes
- Knowledge of payroll administration and employee benefits
- Experience supporting HR policies, audits, or improvement projects
