** Background – The Head of Clinical Placements is a senior professional services leadership role within the School of Health and Medical Sciences. The postholder will provide strategic and operational leadership for clinical placements across the School, ensuring high-quality placement delivery, regulatory compliance, effective partnership management, and an excellent experience for students, staff and placement providers. The role leads placement teams and supports the School’s strategic objectives for education, student success and external engagement.
** Responsibilities – Lead the development and delivery of the School’s clinical placement strategy and operations. Oversee placement planning, allocation, quality assurance and compliance with regulatory requirements. Manage relationships with placement providers and internal stakeholders, ensuring excellent student support and experience. Lead and develop placement teams, drive continuous service improvement, monitor performance and resources, and provide strategic advice to senior leaders on placement provision and partnership development.
** Person Specification – Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience. Significant experience managing complex operational services, ideally within higher education, healthcare or clinical placement environments. Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with experience managing teams and driving service improvement. Knowledge of regulatory compliance, quality assurance, GDPR and the healthcare or higher education sector. Proven ability to manage complex issues, make informed decisions and deliver high-quality, student-focused services.
