Lead a Skilled Workshop Team Supporting Critical Fleet Operations
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Team Leader to lead the police vehicle workshop located at Norfolk Police Headquarters, Wymondham.
You will be responsible for managing a team of 5 that provide a service, maintenance, repair and support function for a large and varied police vehicle fleet. This is a key role that will provide post-holder with an interesting and varied working day. In addition to managing the workshop, you will also carry out service, maintenance and repair duties. You will report directly to the Head of Transport and Uniform Services. You will join a highly skilled and motivated team and play a key part in delivering a high quality and efficient service that supports operational policing.

As Workshop Team Leader, you will be responsible for delivering an effective and efficient vehicle maintenance service while actively undertaking servicing, diagnostics and repair work. You will supervise workshop staff, ensure high standards of safety and compliance, and help drive continuous improvement across workshop operations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading and supervising a team of technicians, allocating work and setting priorities.
- Managing staff performance, appraisals, attendance and training requirements.
- Carrying out vehicle servicing, repairs, diagnostics and post-repair testing.
- Ensuring cost-effective, high-quality repairs and maintenance.
- Maintaining compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH and environmental legislation.
- Managing workshop equipment, inventory and vehicle parts stores.
- Liaising with customers, suppliers and external contractors.
- Keeping up to date with developments in vehicle technology and manufacturer requirements.
Essential Requirements
- Recognised motor vehicle maintenance qualification i.e. City & Guilds Technicians Certificate, BTec National Certificate or NVQ 1, 2 & 3 Certificate.
- Proven recent experience in a Motor Vehicle Service/Repair Workshop
- Proven ability to manage and motivate a team
- Demonstrate good communication skills and the ability to work well as a member of a team.
- Demonstrate good organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines using own initiative.
- Full, current driving licence, due to requirement to drive Police vehicles
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
Desirable Skills
- Proven experience of MOT testing
- Knowledge of modern vehicle electronics and ability to use electronic diagnostic equipment
- Level 3 electric vehicle certificate in relevant discipline

Pay: £41,487.00-£47,046.00 per year
