About UsAbout Dryft
At Dryft, we don’t follow the industry—we reinvent it.
Headquartered and proudly manufacturing in Sheffield, England, we’re a founder-led global design and manufacturing company creating products the world has never seen before. We don’t believe in copying what’s already on the market or making small improvements to existing ideas. We challenge convention, solve problems others can’t, and invent breakthrough technologies that redefine what’s possible.
Formerly known as Motorscrubber, we’re entering an exciting new chapter as Dryft with a bold vision to disrupt the commercial cleaning industry through relentless innovation. Our products are protected by multiple patents, exported worldwide, and trusted in hospitals, schools, hotels, restaurants, retail, and countless other commercial environments.
With a team of 50+ people, you’ll be joining a business that’s large enough to make a global impact, yet small enough for every individual to make a real difference. As a privately owned, founder-led company, we move fast, make decisions quickly, and give talented people the freedom to turn ideas into reality—without layers of bureaucracy slowing things down.
Innovation isn’t a department at Dryft—it’s our culture. We launch groundbreaking new products every 6–12 months and are investing in our future with a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at the Advanced Manufacturing Park, opening in 2028.
If you want to build products that have never existed before, work with people who challenge the status quo, and help shape the future of a rapidly growing global business, there’s never been a more exciting time to join Dryft.
Why You Will Be Employed by Dextron
Your employment contract will be with Dextron Technology Limited, a separate entity within the Dryft Group of companies established to protect and secure the group’s intellectual property.
Although you will be employed by Dextron, the products and technologies you test, validate and support through certification will be developed exclusively for Dryft World Ltd. You will work closely with the wider Dryft team, including the Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and Marketing departments.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Reliability, Validation and Compliance Engineer to take ownership of how our new products and design changes are tested, challenged, approved and certified.
Your primary responsibility will be to prove that our designs are reliable, durable and ready for real-world commercial use. You will develop robust validation plans, create repeatable test methods and use evidence from testing to influence engineering decisions before products enter production.
Alongside reliability and validation, you will ensure that products are designed with global regulatory requirements in mind from the earliest stages of development. You will manage compliance pathways, work with external test houses and translate relevant standards into clear engineering requirements.
This is a practical, hands-on role for someone who enjoys breaking products, understanding why they failed and working directly with designers and engineers to make them stronger, safer and fully compliant.
You will help establish a rigorous in-house reliability, validation and compliance function, supported by dedicated test rigs, prototyping facilities and direct access to the teams designing and manufacturing our products.
What You Will DoReliability and Design Validation
· Create and manage Product Verification and Validation Plans for new products, components and design changes.
· Define measurable acceptance criteria and ensure designs are thoroughly validated before production approval.
· Design and conduct reliability, durability, lifecycle and accelerated-life tests that simulate demanding commercial use.
· Develop test rigs, fixtures, data-collection methods and repeatable testing procedures.
· Test complete machines and individual subsystems, including motors, pumps, solenoid valves, batteries, PCBs, mechanisms and fluid-handling components.
· Perform environmental, vibration, impact, drop, ingress, chemical-resistance, fatigue and wear testing.
· Identify potential failure modes early through design reviews, risk assessments and structured testing.
· Investigate product and component failures using practical root-cause analysis techniques.
· Turn test results into clear, evidence-based recommendations for the Mechanical, Electrical and Industrial Design teams.
· Verify that corrective design changes have resolved the original issue without introducing new risks.
· Maintain accurate test records, validation reports, reliability data and engineering sign-off documentation.
· Help build and continuously improve Dryft’s internal reliability-testing standards, equipment and processes.
Regulatory Compliance and Certification
· Take ownership of product compliance and certification activity across new and existing Dryft products.
· Act as the primary technical contact for external test houses and certification organisations, including SGS, Intertek and TÜV.
· Plan, coordinate and manage external product testing, certification submissions and technical queries.
· Translate global regulatory and safety standards into clear, practical design requirements before CAD and detailed engineering work begins.
· Support compliance with relevant standards and regulations, including IEC/EN 60335 appliance safety, EMC, RoHS and REACH.
· Review product designs, components and materials to identify compliance risks at an early stage.
· Work closely with design engineers to ensure safety, regulatory and certification requirements are built into products rather than addressed at the end of development.
· Prepare and maintain technical documentation, test evidence, risk assessments and certification records.
· Investigate compliance test failures and work with engineering teams to define and validate corrective actions.
· Monitor changes to relevant standards and advise the business on their potential impact.
· Support international certification requirements as Dryft expands into global markets.
Materials and Whole-System Evaluation
· Evaluate plastic resins, elastomers, metals and alternative materials against mechanical, chemical, environmental and regulatory requirements.
· Assess environmental stress cracking, chemical resistance, wear, fatigue and long-term material performance.
· Ensure alternative materials selected for compliance, availability or cost reasons continue to meet reliability and durability requirements.
· Oversee whole-machine validation, including environmental, drop, vibration and ingress-protection testing.
· Generate reliable engineering evidence to support product approvals, warranty decisions and substantiated product-performance claims.
What We Are Looking For
· Significant experience in product testing, reliability engineering, design validation, product verification or compliance engineering.
· Experience testing electromechanical products, commercial machinery, appliances or similarly complex products.
· Proven experience managing product certification pathways and working directly with external test houses such as SGS, TÜV or Intertek.
· A strong practical understanding of mechanical, electrical and material-related failures.
· Experience creating structured test plans, validation procedures, acceptance criteria and technical reports.
· Knowledge of relevant product safety, EMC and environmental regulations.
· Confidence interpreting standards and converting them into practical engineering and design requirements.
· Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
· A highly analytical, scientific and data-driven approach to testing.
· The ability to communicate technical findings clearly and constructively to design, manufacturing and quality teams.
· A degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Materials Science, Product Design Engineering or a related discipline.
· A proactive, hands-on approach and the confidence to challenge designs when testing or compliance evidence shows that improvement is required.
Beneficial Experience
· Accelerated Life Testing, Highly Accelerated Life Testing or reliability-growth testing.
· Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and validation risk assessments.
· Statistical reliability analysis, Design of Experiments or Weibull analysis.
· Test automation and data acquisition using LabVIEW, Arduino or similar platforms.
· Testing polymers, elastomers, metals, seals, mechanisms and injection-moulded components.
· Environmental stress cracking, chemical compatibility, fatigue and wear analysis.
· FEA or simulation used to support physical design validation.
· Experience with IEC/EN 60335, EMC, RoHS, REACH and ingress-protection testing.
· Preparation of technical files, declarations, risk assessments and supporting certification documents.
· Experience supporting certification across UK, European and international markets.
What We Offer
· Salary of £40,000–£55,000, negotiable based on experience.
· Performance-based bonuses.
· Additional paid leave.
· Ongoing professional development.
· Dedicated testing, prototyping and product-development facilities.
· The opportunity to establish and shape Dryft’s reliability, validation and compliance function.
· Direct influence over products that are designed, manufactured and exported globally.
· A fast-moving environment where test evidence and compliance requirements directly influence design decisions.
