About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Production Operative to join our manufacturing team, hand-assembling precision mechanical components to exacting quality standards. This is a skilled, hands-on role suited to someone with a genuine eye for detail and a steady hand, working on small, intricate assemblies where consistency and accuracy are critical.
You'll be working with fine tolerances, delicate materials, and multi-stage assembly processes — building products entirely by hand rather than on an automated line. No two days are quite the same, but the standard you work to never changes.
What You'll Be Doing
- Hand-assembling small mechanical components using specialist jigs, tools, and fixtures
- Working to detailed build specifications and quality standards, checking your own work at every stage
- Applying adhesives, seals, and fine-tolerance fixings with precision
- Handling delicate materials and components without damage or contamination
- Carrying out visual and functional inspection, identifying and rejecting non-conforming parts
- Maintaining a clean, organised workstation in line with 5S / lean principles
- Recording production data and completing quality documentation accurately
- Working closely with team leaders and quality staff to maintain consistent output
- Continuously refining technique to improve speed without compromising quality
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a production, manufacturing, or hand-assembly environment
- Strong manual dexterity and the ability to perform repetitive fine-motor tasks accurately over a full shift
- A genuine eye for detail and quality — able to spot inconsistencies others might miss
- Comfortable working to tight tolerances and detailed build instructions
- Experience with precision hand tools and small-component assembly
- Transferable skills from precision hobbies or crafts are highly valued
- Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to sit or stand at a bench for extended periods
- A methodical, quality-first approach and pride in producing consistent, high-standard work
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working as part of a small, focused team
Desirable
- Previous experience in electro-mechanical, precision engineering, or specialist niche manufacturing
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environments
- Basic understanding of quality control processes and documentation
