Role Purpose
The Management Accountant delivers accurate, timely and commercially focused financial insight that supports operational performance, cost control and strategic decision‑making. The role leads monthly management accounts, product costing, margin analysis, forecasting and financial governance. In addition to supporting the Managing Director, the role has a key responsibility for group‑level reporting to Milbank Group, ensuring compliance with group standards, deadlines and financial frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Management Accounts
- Produce monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet, cashflow and KPI reporting.
- Deliver variance analysis with clear, concise commentary for both the MD and Milbank Group.
- Ensure all reporting meets timelines, templates and financial governance requirements.
- Maintain reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts and ensure ERP data integrity.
Costing & Margin Analysis
- Maintain and update product costings (raw materials, labour, overheads).
- Analyse contribution margins and identify drivers of erosion or improvement.
- Support pricing reviews, customer profitability analysis and commercial decision‑making.
- Partner with Operations to validate production costs, yields, waste and batch performance.
Operational Finance
- Work closely with Manufacturing to track production KPIs and cost impacts.
- Support Procurement with cost‑change modelling and supplier impact assessments.
- Monitor stock valuation, slow‑moving inventory, stock accuracy and related financial controls.
- Assist with capex evaluations, ROI modelling and post‑implementation reviews.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting process and quarterly reforecast cycles.
- Build financial models to support scenario planning and strategic initiatives.
- Provide forward‑looking insight to the MD.
Compliance, Controls & Group Reporting
- Ensure adherence to financial policies, internal controls and audit requirements.
- Prepare and submit all required company financial reports, schedules and analysis.
- Support with year‑end preparation.
- Maintain strong financial governance aligned with group standards.
Business Partnering
- Provide clear, actionable financial insight to non‑finance colleagues.
- Translate complex financial data into concise, board‑ready and group‑ready narratives.
- Support the MD with ad‑hoc analysis, presentations and strategic reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
- Part‑qualified or fully qualified ACCA / CIMA / ICAS.
- Experience in manufacturing, FMCG or similar operational environments.
- Strong understanding of costing, margin analysis and management accounts.
- Experience with group reporting or multi‑entity structures (desirable).
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability.
- Experience with ERP systems (preferably manufacturing‑focused).
