Conference & Banqueting Manager
Bishop’s Gate Hotel, Derry
As part of the Bishop’s Gate Hotel team, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional events and memorable guest experiences within one of Northern Ireland’s leading boutique hotels.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional to lead our Conference & Banqueting operation, managing weddings, private celebrations, corporate events and special occasions from enquiry through to successful delivery.
Working closely with our senior management, Food & Beverage and Operations teams, you will take ownership of ensuring every event is flawlessly planned, professionally executed and exceeds guest expectations.
This is a hands-on management role where organisation, attention to detail, commercial awareness and exceptional service standards are at the heart of everything you do.
The Role:
Working closely with the senior management team, your main duties will include:
- Overall management of the hotel’s Conference & Banqueting operation, including weddings, corporate events, private functions and special occasions.
- Managing the full event journey through to event delivery and follow-up.
- Working closely with clients to create bespoke experiences that reflect their vision and requirements.
- Coordinating with all hotel departments including Food & Beverage, Kitchen, Front Office, Housekeeping and Maintenance to ensure seamless event delivery.
- Leading event operations on the day, ensuring exceptional service standards and attention to detail throughout.
- Managing event setups, room layouts, décor requirements and operational logistics.
- Preparing and managing C&E staff rotas in line with business requirements and budgets.
- Ensuring appropriate staffing levels and effective deployment of team members across all events.
- Leading, motivating and developing the Conference & Banqueting team to deliver outstanding service.
- Recruitment, onboarding and training of new C&B team members.
- Completing performance reviews, supporting team development and addressing performance where required.
- Working closely with the Sales and Revenue teams to maximise event revenue opportunities.
- Driving sales through proactive enquiry management, upselling opportunities and building strong client relationships.
- Maintaining accurate records, systems and administration relating to events and bookings.
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety, licensing, food safety and company procedures.
- Supporting the continued development of our events offering through feedback, innovation and operational improvements.
Under the leadership of Katie our F&B Manager, you will play a vital role in our continued success, helping to deliver exceptional experiences for weddings, celebrations and corporate guests within our award-winning hotel.

Essential Criteria:
- Previous experience in a Conference & Banqueting Manager or similar hospitality management role.
- Proven experience managing weddings, private events, conferences or large-scale functions.
- Demonstrable experience delivering exceptional customer service and guest experiences.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proven people management experience, including rota planning, training and team development.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Commercial awareness with experience in driving revenue and identifying sales opportunities.
- A hands-on, proactive approach with a passion for hospitality and events.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working within a luxury or premium hotel environment.
- Experience using event management or hotel booking systems.
- Knowledge of wedding planning and event coordination.
- Experience managing budgets, costs and profitability.
