Here at Malthouse Vets we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist to join our team at our Small Animal Practice in Narberth. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for pet owners and their beloved animals, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks. Your role will be invaluable in creating a welcoming environment for clients and ensuring the smooth operation of our practice.
Responsibilities
- Greet clients and their pets upon arrival, ensuring a friendly and professional atmosphere.
- Schedule appointments and manage the calendar.
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries regarding services, procedures, and pet care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update client information as necessary.
- Process payments and manage client accounts efficiently.
- Assist in managing the inventory of supplies and medications.
- Collaborate with veterinary staff to ensure seamless communication regarding patient care.
- Handle laboratory samples with care, ensuring proper documentation and tracking.
- Ensuring a high standard of cleanliness is maintained throughout all front of house areas.
Skills
- Previous veterinary experience is not essential, providing insight into animal care and client needs.
- Laboratory experience is advantageous, aiding in the handling of samples and understanding of procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Strong organisational abilities to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners, demonstrating empathy in all interactions.

This is a physically active customer facing role. An eye for detail is key and high standards of cleanliness. Customer Service skills and telephone manner need to be exceptional and strong IT skills are required.
The practice is a busy, small animal practice so ideally the candidate would need to be proactive and competent under pressure, with a sense of team spirit to help in all areas should it be required. The most important attributes of the role are enthusiasm, professionalism and friendliness.
Our daily working hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm PLUS Saturday mornings 9am to 12pm on a shared rota basis (1:5).
The role requires full day hours between 9am and 5.30pm and we will consider applications for full time, 5 days per week or part time at a minimum of 3 full days per week.
Salary is dependent on experience and is reviewed regularly.
