Job Summary
Ermine Engineering Company Ltd are seeking a reliable 7.5t Driver / Yard Person to join our structural steelwork and architectural metalwork business in Lincoln. This dual role splits your time between maintaining an organised production yard and completing deliveries. You will transport fabricated steel from our Lincoln base to construction sites and clients across the country, making this ideal for a driver who enjoys physical, hands-on approach to yard operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Nationwide Delivery: Drive 7.5-tonne vehicles to transport structural steel and architectural metalwork safely to regional and national construction projects.
- Load Security: Chain, strap, and rope heavy, irregular metal loads safely to ensure security over long distances.
- Site Offloading: Assist with safely unloading steelwork on busy, active construction sites across the UK.
- Yard Operations: Organise raw steel stock, finished metal assemblies, and fabrication materials back at the Lincoln yard.
- Forklift Work: Unload incoming steel deliveries and reload vehicles using a counterbalance forklift.
- Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean, hazard-free yard environment adhering to UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Vehicle Care: Perform daily vehicle checks and manage driving hours strictly according to UK tachograph regulations.

Skills needed
- Licence: Valid UK Category C1 (7.5 tonne) driving licence.
- CPC & Tacho: Current Driver CPC Qualification Card and Digital Tachograph card.
- Experience: Proven background handling heavy materials or working in a fabrication yard, with confidence in long-distance driving.
- Forklift Certificate: Valid Counterbalance forklift licence is highly desirable but not essential.
- Physical Fitness: Physically fit and capable of handling heavy lifting safely.
- Driving Record: Clean licence preferred (maximum of 6 minor points considered, no DR or DD codes).
Pay: £12.71-£14.00 per hour
