What will you be doing?
As our experienced Senior Bid Manager you'll lead complex, high-value bids across our Water Division. Working closely with the Growth Director, bid team, Regional Managing Directors, operational leads and commercial teams, you'll manage bids from qualification through to submission, clarification, presentation, handover and lessons learned.
This is a senior work-winning role focused on bid strategy, governance, quality, commercial coordination and proposal delivery across the UK water sector. You'll manage the Bid Coordinator and Bid Writer. Supporting their development while improving bid quality, consistency and delivery discipline.
- Lead multiple live and pipeline tenders, prioritising activity across risk, value, resource, deadlines and win probability.
- Shape pursuit strategies, customer propositions, differentiators and evidence plans with opportunity owners, senior stakeholders and operational leads.
- Establish clear governance, compliance, review and reporting disciplines across multiple bids to maintain quality, consistency and delivery confidence.
- Coordinate technical, commercial, operational and supply chain input so submissions are competitive, deliverable and strategically aligned.
- Lead portfolio-level bid reviews, challenge assumptions and convert feedback into stronger content, clearer solutions and improved win themes.
- Line manage the Bid Writer and Bid Coordinator, setting priorities, coaching performance, allocating workload and developing capability across the bid function
What you’ll bring
- Lead complex, multi-disciplinary bids across water, utilities, infrastructure or comparable public-sector procurement environments.
- Apply strong bid governance, compliance, writing, editing, review and submission assurance.
- Manage multiple deadlines, contributors, workstreams and assurance cycles in fast-paced conditions.
- Bring commercial awareness, customer focus, stakeholder confidence and price-to-win understanding.
- Coach and support bid coordinators, writers and proposal colleagues.
- Use Microsoft Office, shared workspaces, CRM and bid management tools; APMP desirable.
