We are looking for a skilled and proactive Electrical Engineer to join our team at Stewarts of Tayside Ltd, supporting our production operations.
This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining and improving production equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and ensuring safe, efficient operation of all electrical systems across the site. You will work on a wide range of factory equipment, supporting both reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance (PPM), as well as contributing to continuous improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to electrical breakdowns and faults across production and site equipment
- Carry out fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs on electrical systems
- Support and deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
- Work with control systems including motors, drives, sensors, and control panels
- Assist with improvement and reliability projects across the site
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with safety standards and site procedures
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
Role Requirements
- Qualified electrical engineer (apprenticeship or equivalent experience)
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of inverters/drives, motors, sensors, and control systems
- Comfortable working both independently and within a team
- Proactive, hands-on, and focused on continuous improvement
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- City & Guilds 2391 / 2394 & 2395
- Mechanical skills (bearings, conveyors, drives, etc.)
- Experience working with conveyors, packaging lines, or food production equipment
- Awareness of safety standards such as PUWER, LOTO, and safe isolation procedures
Working Hours & Overtime
- Rota shift role, including backshift, weekends, and day shift rotas
- A flexible approach is required, including staying on when needed to deal with breakdowns and keep production running
