Behaviour Mentor | Full-Time & Flexible Opportunities
Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential? We are seeking dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentors to work in primary, secondary, and specialist schools across Southampton.
This rewarding role is ideal for individuals with experience supporting children and young people who display challenging behaviour or have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Whether you're an experienced Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, or have transferable skills, we'd love to hear from you.
The Role
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to improve behaviour, engagement, and emotional wellbeing.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage confidence, resilience, and personal development.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and individual behaviour plans.
- Help pupils regulate their emotions and develop positive coping skills.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and families to promote positive outcomes.
- Encourage participation in lessons and support pupils in achieving their academic and personal goals.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour where required.
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people in an education, youth work, care, or support setting.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour management.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism (ASC), ADHD, or additional needs is desirable.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
