About the Role: London is a global trade hub, and at AgroFood & Fish International Ltd., we apply that same world-class standard to our supply chain operations. We bridge international suppliers and UK markets with seamless, compliant logistics. We believe customs processes don't have to be a bottleneck.
We are looking for an Import / Export Customs Specialist (UK-EU Compliance) who can take full ownership of our border compliance strategy. You aren't just filing paperwork; you are defining our international trade efficiency. You will bridge the gap between complex UK-EU HMRC regulations and fast-moving food distribution networks, serving as the trade authority in a room full of logistics and procurement teams.
Why Work With Us?
- The Environment: Our London office sits at the center of international trade activity. We offer an energetic workspace that values focus and agility—think modern facilities, quick decision-making, and strong support.
- Compliance Maturity: We don't need you to convince us that trade compliance matters. We know it does. You will have direct authority over border operations and cross-border strategy from Day 1.
- Modern Systems: We operate directly with updated customs software (CDS, GVMS, IPAFFS), ensuring smooth, tech-enabled declarations without outdated manual friction.
- Growth: You will have a training budget to attend trade policy seminars and UK-EU border updates to keep your regulatory knowledge sharp.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customs Declaration Ownership: Prepare and submit accurate import/export declarations using CDS, CHIEF, and GVMS. Ensure 100% regulatory compliance for all shipments.
- End-to-End Compliance: Lead the clearance process from origin documentation and tariff classification to SPS border checks and final delivery.
- Process Optimization: Monitor changing UK-EU trade policies and adapt internal workflows to minimize transit delays and avoid border holds.
- Data & Audit Management: Don't just submit entries. Audit customs filings, verify HS codes, and maintain rigorous documentation for HMRC and DEFRA reviews.
- Stakeholder Communication: Present regulatory requirements clearly to suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal teams. You can explain why specific documentation is needed, not just that it's a rule.
What We Are Looking For:
- Experience: 2–5+ years in UK-EU customs clearance, international trade, or freight compliance, ideally with perishable goods.
- Track Record: Proven operational knowledge of CDS, HMRC procedures, and border health checks (IPAFFS/SPS) is essential. Show us your problem-solving experience with border logistics.
- Tooling: Proficient with UK customs platforms, CDS software, and logistics data tracking tools.
- Language Skills: English (Fluent/C1+) is required for daily regulatory filings and stakeholder coordination.
- Mindset: You are pragmatic. You know how to navigate strict regulatory deadlines while keeping supply chains moving smoothly.
Pay: £38,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
