Basegreen is a leading provider of emergency services and vocational driver training, delivering high-quality education to individuals and organisations across the UK. We are looking for a professional, enthusiastic and motivated C1 Driving Instructor to join our Commercial Training Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to help learners develop the skills, knowledge and confidence required to safely drive Category C1 vehicles (up to 7.5 tonnes), supporting them to achieve their driving qualification and progress their careers.
The successful candidate will primarily deliver training throughout Yorkshire and the Humber, with occasional travel to other Basegreen training locations when required.
About the Role
As a C1 Driving Instructor, you will deliver practical driver training to learners preparing for their Category C1 driving test. You will provide professional instruction, coaching and assessment while maintaining the highest standards of road safety, customer service and learner experience.
You will work closely with the Operations Manager (Commercial) to ensure training is delivered consistently and meets both company and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality practical Category C1 driver training.
- Prepare learners for the DVSA practical driving test.
- Assess learners' abilities and tailor training to individual learning needs.
- Promote safe, defensive and economical driving techniques.
- Conduct vehicle checks before and after training sessions.
- Maintain accurate learner records and training documentation.
- Provide constructive feedback and coaching throughout the learning journey.
- Ensure compliance with DVSA standards, road traffic legislation and company policies.
- Maintain a professional, supportive and encouraging learning environment.
- Liaise with the Operations Manager regarding learner progress, scheduling and operational requirements.
- Travel throughout Yorkshire and the Humber and to other Basegreen sites when required.
- Represent Basegreen professionally with learners, customers and partner organisations.
- Support continuous improvement within the Commercial Training department.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Category C1 entitlement. This must be by test and not "Acquired Rights"
- Excellent driving record.
- Previous experience driving C1 (7.5 tonne) vehicles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build confidence in nervous or inexperienced drivers.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel across the region.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate will have one or more of the following:
- DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) qualification.
- DVSA Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) Instructor qualification.
- Previous experience delivering vocational driver training.
- Experience preparing learners for DVSA driving tests.
- Teaching or assessor qualifications (AET, IQA, TAQA or equivalent).
- Experience working within emergency services or vocational transport sectors.
- Knowledge of Driver CPC requirements.
Candidates without an instructor qualification but with significant C1 driving experience and a passion for teaching may still be considered, as training may be available for the right individual.
Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
