Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Full Time – Permanent - 37 hours per week term time only
Fox Wood School is a specialist provision for pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). We operate over three sites – Fox Cubs (our Early Years satellite site WA2
9HY), Main School (WA1 4LS) and – from Autumn 2026 our new 16 – 19 College (WA5 1HQ.) Due to our continued growth and development, we are pleased to invite applications for a committed and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant. We require HLTAs at each of our sites and so interviews will be held at school for all sites, and Key Stages, and candidates will be asked to explain their preferences.
This is an exciting opportunity for skilled practitioners to contribute to high-quality teaching and learning, support pupil progress, and provide PPA cover for teaching staff. We are looking for people who are passionate about inclusive education and making a meaningful difference to the lives of our pupils.
The successful candidates will:
Plan, deliver and evaluate learning activities for individuals and groups of pupils
Lead whole-class sessions, including providing PPA cover
Effectively manage and support a classroom team
Promote a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment
Support pupils’ communication, learning and behavioural needs
The successful candidates will need to hold/demonstrate:
A Higher-Level Teaching Assistant qualification, or be enrolled onto a relevant course (which will have to be completed within a reasonable period)
A general understanding of Communication difficulties, and strategies to support pupils
