Job description
We are looking for talented Principal Auditors to join our evolving Internal Audit team at an exciting time of development. In this role, you will deliver high-impact audit work across a diverse range of business areas, helping to ensure Nationwide continues to operate safely, sustainably, and in the best interests of our customers.
You will be responsible for executing audits end-to-end, applying a risk-based approach to identify key issues, provide meaningful insights, and offer constructive challenge where it matters most. By working closely with stakeholders, you will build trusted relationships and communicate your findings clearly, supporting better decision-making and driving real, lasting improvements.
This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your experience, deepen your influence, and play a visible role in strengthening governance, risk management, and control within a large, purpose-driven organisation. Internal Audit at Nationwide is an award-winning, forward-thinking function that plays a vital role in supporting the Society as a mutual, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality, independent assurance and excellent customer outcomes.
We are a team that embraces innovation and continuously evolves the way we work, including increasing our use of data and analytics to generate deeper insights and deliver more impactful audits. At the same time, we are committed to developing our people, offering opportunities to stretch, build new skills, and gain exposure across a wide range of business areas, all within a culture that encourages learning and career progression.
As a Principal Auditor, your work will help ensure risks are well understood, decisions are well informed, and improvements are made where they matter most—contributing directly to the long-term strength of Nationwide and the value we deliver to our members.
We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 28 and 35 hours.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our London or Swindon office. If you are aligned to our Glasgow hub (as this is your nearest location), there will be a need to regularly connect and collaborate with colleagues. This is anticipated to be weekly in Glasgow. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here .
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
