Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Garden Centre Cafe Cook/Cafe Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, cooking, and serving in a busy café setting, ensuring high standards of food safety and customer service are maintained at all times.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of food items according to established recipes and standards
- Assist with meal preparation, ensuring timely delivery of orders during busy periods
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
- Serve customers efficiently and courteously at the counter or table
- Restock supplies and ingredients as needed to ensure smooth café operations
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently, including proper food handling and hygiene practices
- Support the team in maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for visitors and customers
- Assist with general café duties such as clearing tables, washing dishes, and cleaning work surfaces
Skills
- Experience in food preparation and cooking within a café, restaurant or hospitality environment
- Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak hours
- Good organisational skills with an eye for detail in meal presentation and cleanliness
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with team members and customers
- Previous experience in serving or customer service roles is advantageous
- A positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn new skills in culinary arts
