Residential Support Worker
Children's Residential Homes | Full-Time | Permanent
Location: Burton-on-Trent, DE13
Salary: £29,500 - £32,000 per annum, depending on experience
Be the Person They Remember for the Right Reasons
What if the support you give today becomes part of the reason a young person believes in themselves tomorrow?
We're looking for Residential Support Workers to join our growing team in Burton-on-Trent, supporting children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs within a therapeutic residential environment.
You'll help create a home where young people feel safe, understood and valued, while supporting them to build confidence, develop resilience and take positive steps towards their future.
We currently have two Ofsted-rated "Good" children's homes, with a third opening soon. Our growth means genuine opportunities for the people who want to grow with us.
Whether you're already experienced in residential childcare or bringing transferable experience and the right values, we'll invest in your development and give you the training, guidance and support to build a career you're proud of.
Why Join Us?
We believe great care starts with people who feel supported themselves.
You'll benefit from:
- £29,500 - £32,000 salary, depending on experience
- Comprehensive therapeutic, trauma-informed and PACE-based training
- Ongoing supervision, mentoring and professional development
- Genuine career progression within a growing organisation
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Free meals during shifts
- On-site parking
- Casual dress policy
- Retail and gym discount schemes
- Loyalty bonus programme
- Regular staff events and team-building opportunities
- A supportive, welcoming and collaborative team culture
The Role
As a Residential Support Worker, you'll become one of the trusted adults in a young person's life.
That means being there when things are difficult, listening when they need someone to talk to, celebrating their progress and providing consistency when life feels uncertain.
Using trauma-informed approaches and PACE principles, you'll help young people feel safe, understood and valued while supporting them to develop positive routines, independence, confidence and resilience.
No two days will be the same.
But every day gives you another chance to make a difference.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be responsible for:
- Providing high-quality, child-centred care within a therapeutic residential environment
- Supporting emotional wellbeing through trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches, including PACE principles
- Encouraging positive routines and developing independence, confidence and resilience
- Building trusting and meaningful relationships with children and young people
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals
- Contributing to care plans, risk assessments and individual support plans
- Maintaining accurate daily records and documentation in line with Ofsted requirements
- Promoting safeguarding and helping maintain a safe, structured and nurturing home
About You
We're looking for people who are caring, resilient, patient and genuinely committed to helping young people thrive.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience working within children's residential care
- An understanding of therapeutic or trauma-informed approaches
- A caring, patient and child-centred approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work a rolling rota, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins where required
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people
Experience is valuable, but attitude, values and commitment matter just as much.
If you bring the right qualities, we'll help you develop the knowledge and skills you need to succeed.
The Part of the Job That Matters Most
Young people may not remember every report you completed or every task you carried out.
They'll remember how you made them feel.
They'll remember the adult who listened without judgement.
The person who encouraged them when they didn't believe they could do something.
The person who noticed their progress, celebrated the small wins and kept showing up when things were difficult.
As a Residential Support Worker, you have the opportunity to become that person.
Your consistency today can help shape someone's confidence tomorrow.
Build a Career That Matters
This isn't simply a role where you support young people day to day.
It's an opportunity to develop meaningful relationships, make a lasting difference and build a career within a growing organisation that invests in its people.
If you're looking for work with purpose, progression and genuine impact, we'd love to hear from you.
Join our growing team and help create brighter futures for children and young people.
All applications are welcome, and we aim to contact candidates within 48 hours of receiving their application.
