Role Summary
The Bulldogs Armed Forces Co-ordinator will play a key role in the delivery of multiple projects, including VALOUR through the Connected Forces Cymru project. The postholder will act as a first point of contact for Veterans, Service Leavers, Reservists and Armed Forces family members, providing practical support and ongoing engagement. The role will co-ordinate referrals, manage complex cases, develop partnerships, oversee safeguarding and ensure compliance with all monitoring and reporting requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Veteran & Armed Forces Community Support
· Act as the first point of contact for Veterans, Service Leavers, Reservists and Armed Forces family members
· Undertake initial assessments and identify individual support needs.
· Develop person-centred support plans where appropriate.
· Provide information, guidance and practical support on housing, employment, health and wellbeing.
· Co-ordinate referrals and warm handovers to specialist services.
· Maintain regular contact with beneficiaries to ensure positive progress and outcomes.
· Advocate on behalf of beneficiaries where appropriate.
· Monitor progress and review outcomes with beneficiaries.
Safeguarding & Risk Management
· Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified and managed appropriately.
· Maintain risk assessments and safe working practices.
· Support lone working and outreach protocols.
Outreach & Community Engagement
· Working with the Community Connector to support with Outreach events
· Support Veterans and Armed Forces families who may be unable to attend the centre.
· Build relationships with local Veteran groups, community organisations and Armed Forces networks.
· Support engagement activities designed to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing.
· Promote the VALOUR project through events, presentations, social media and community outreach.
Volunteer & Staff Support
· Provide support and guidance to volunteers and peer mentors.
· Work closely with the Armed Forces Community Connector.
· Support recruitment, induction and development of volunteers.
Partnership Working and Development
· Promote the Connected Forces Cymru network across Wales - working collaboratively with VALOUR partners including Swansea Veterans Hub, Woody's Lodge and The VC Gallery.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with:
o Local Authorities
o NHS Services
o Veterans NHS Wales
o MOD Veterans Services
o DWP and employability providers
o Housing Associations
o Other Armed Forces charities
o Third-sector and community organisations
· Facilitate effective referral pathways and collaborative support planning.
· Host and co-ordinate visiting professionals and partner agencies at the centre.
· Facilitate multi-agency working to support beneficiaries with complex needs.
· Represent Bulldogs BCA at partnership meetings and regional VALOUR forums when required.
Project Delivery & Compliance
· Ensure delivery meets the objectives of the Armed Forces Projects
· Maintain accurate records using approved systems.
· Lead on monitoring, evaluation and reporting requirements.
· Collect outcome data and evidence of impact.
· Support external evaluations and audits.
· Ensure GDPR compliance and secure data management.
· Identify gaps in provision and opportunities for service improvement.
· Support funding reports, case studies and promotional materials.
· Contribute to the strategic development of Veterans services at Bulldogs BCA.
Safeguarding, Compliance & Quality
· Promote safeguarding and wellbeing of all beneficiaries.
· Follow Bulldogs BCA safeguarding, health and safety and data protection policies.
· Identify and report safeguarding concerns appropriately.
· Support risk assessments for activities and outreach work.
· Contribute to continuous improvement and quality assurance processes.
Facilities & Operations
· Support the upkeep and maintenance of the Bulldogs assault course and minibus.
· Assist with general centre duties, ensuring a clean, safe and welcoming environment for all users.
General Responsibilities
· Promote The Bulldogs’ values and provide a supportive, inclusive experience for all participants.
· Engage new and returning participants to create a thriving, active Veterans’ community.
· Uphold Health & Safety standards and ensure all activities are delivered with appropriate duty of care.

· Attend meetings, contribute to reports and deliver presentations as required.

· Support the wider activities of Bulldogs BCA when required.
· Work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.
· Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role.

Person Specification
Essential
· Experience supporting Veterans, Armed Forces communities or vulnerable adults.
· Strong understanding of issues affecting Veterans and military families.
· Experience providing advice, guidance, advocacy or support services.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Experience of partnership working.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong administration and report-writing skills.
· Ability to manage a varied workload.
· Knowledge of housing, welfare, employability or health pathways.
· Ability to build positive relationships with beneficiaries and partner organisations.

· Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and digital record keeping.
· Full UK Driving Licence and access to transport.
Desirable
· Veteran, Service Leaver or Armed Forces family experience.
· Qualification in Advice & Guidance, Community Development, Health & Social Care, Fitness, Youth Work or related field.
· Experience managing funded projects.
· Experience of housing, welfare, employability or wellbeing support.
· Mental Health First Aid qualification.
· Experience delivering outreach or community engagement activities.
· Knowledge of the Armed Forces Covenant and VALOUR programme.
