Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Cover Supervisor to support secondary school students across various classes and subjects in and around the surrounding Darlingtron areas.
This role involves supervising lessons in the absence of teachers, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment. The successful candidate will play a vital part in maintaining continuity of education and fostering a positive atmosphere for pupils. Experience working with children, individuals with disabilities, or those on the autism spectrum is highly desirable. Duties
- Supervise and manage classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring lessons proceed smoothly
- Support teachers with classroom organisation and behaviour management
- Assist students with their learning activities, providing guidance where necessary
- Maintain a positive and inclusive environment conducive to learning
- Support pupils with special educational needs, including those with autism or other disabilities
- Foster engagement through creative writing activities, tutoring, or mentoring sessions
- Ensure student safety at all times and uphold school policies and procedures
- Communicate effectively with staff, pupils, and parents when required
- Adapt to different subjects and age groups as directed by school staff
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children or young people in educational or care settings is advantageous
- Knowledge of special education needs, including working with individuals with disabilities or autism, is desirable
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students and staff
- Experience in tutoring or mentoring can be beneficial
- Creative writing skills are a plus for supporting literacy initiatives
- Ability to demonstrate patience, adaptability, and organisational skills
- Relevant qualifications in education support or teaching assistance are preferred but not essential
