Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Kitchen Porter to join our busy culinary team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of our kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining experience within the hospitality industry, particularly those with an interest in food preparation, cooking, and restaurant service. Prior experience in a hotel or restaurant setting is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Wash, clean, and sanitise all kitchen utensils, equipment, and surfaces to uphold hygiene standards.
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including peeling, chopping, and organising ingredients.
- Support the kitchen team during service hours by ensuring all areas are clean and well-stocked.
- Dispose of waste materials responsibly and ensure recycling procedures are followed.
- Maintain cleanliness of the dishwashing area and ensure all equipment is in good working order.
- Assist with stock organisation and storage to ensure ingredients are stored correctly and efficiently.
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times to maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality environments such as restaurants, hotels, or catering services is desirable but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of basic kitchen hygiene practices and safety procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Willingness to learn new skills related to culinary operations and hospitality service.
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends if necessary.
- A positive attitude and team-oriented approach are essential for success in this role.
