Job Overview
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Person to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the yard, supporting day-to-day operations, and ensuring equipment, vehicles, and materials are organised, safe, and ready for use.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the yard and surrounding areas
- Load and unload materials, equipment, and goods safely
- Assist with moving trailers, machinery, or stock within the yard
- Carry out basic maintenance and checks on equipment and vehicles
- Ensure all items are stored correctly and securely
- Support workshop and office staff as required
- Follow all health and safety procedures and report hazards
- Assist with deliveries and collections when needed
- Operate yard equipment such as forklifts (if licensed)
Requirements
- Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, or similar environment preferred
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling tasks
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of health and safety practices
- Forklift licence (desirable but not essential)
- Full UK driving licence (preferred)
