Maternity Cover required
We are looking for a caring, reliable, sensible person to join our friendly team of personal assistants to care for a gentleman living in March who is autistic, has a learning disability and is wheelchair bound due to Parkinson’s. The client has speech and language difficulties so clear English is necessary, as well as willingness to learn.
Apart from all personal care, for example, washing and dressing him, preparing his meals, assisting with transfers from wheelchair to bed, the work is physical at times as he requires stimulation of his limbs to promote independent movement. He is mostly in a wheelchair. Nightshifts are waking care as he only sleeps for a few hours a night and requires medications and various care during this time.
Currently the shifts that need cover are from 2pm-10pm 3 days a week, including alternate weekends.
Working to a four week rota with alternate 3 and 4 8 hour shifts from 7am to 3pm, inclusive of alternate weekends, caring for a 60 year old autistic male with Parkinson's. He requires all personal care and a great deal of medication. He is in his own home and therefore you will be working alone. We will provide two shadow shifts before the start date. The rate of pay is £14 per hour weekdays and £16.20 for weekends. It will also be necessary to work cover shifts when other staff are on holiday for which the rate of pay is £16.50.
We cannot support overseas applicants as we only provide care for our family member in his flat.
