Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Head and Neck Sonographer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound examinations of the head and neck region, including thyroid, salivary glands, lymph nodes, and other soft tissue structures. You will play a key role in supporting early diagnosis and patient management in community settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound scans of the head and neck region in accordance with HealthHarmonie protocols and national guidelines.
- Produce accurate, high-quality reports to support clinical decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with referring clinicians and multidisciplinary teams.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure data protection compliance.
- Participate in clinical audit, peer review, and quality assurance activities.
- Support training and mentoring of junior sonographers or trainees if required.
- Uphold professional standards and contribute to continuous service improvement.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Sonographer with MSc, DMU, Postgraduate Diploma or Certificate in Medical Ultrasound from a CASE-accredited institution.
- HCPC or RCT registration.
- Minimum of five years post-qualification experience, with demonstrable expertise in head and neck ultrasound.
- Own professional indemnity insurance.
- Up-to-date CPD portfolio.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., BMUS, SoR).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience working in community or outpatient settings.
- Familiarity with NHS referral pathways and reporting systems.
- Teaching or mentoring experience.
- Additional competencies in other ultrasound areas (e.g., MSK, vascular) are advantageous.
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary, Zero hours contract
Contract length: 1 month
Pay: £60.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 8 per week
