Early Years Teaching Assistant
Not every classroom has tiny chairs, story corners and the occasional glitter explosion – but this one does.
We’re working with an Early Years setting in Blackburn looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant who can step into a world of curiosity, imagination and important first steps.
The Role
This is all about the early stages – where communication, confidence and connection begin.
You’ll be:
· Supporting young children with additional needs through play-based learning
· Helping them explore, interact and express themselves
· Working closely with the class team to keep routines consistent
· Using simple, clear approaches to support understanding
· Creating an environment where children feel secure and ready to try
Some days will be messy. Some moments will be quiet breakthroughs. Both matter.
About You
You’ll need to be someone who meets children where they are, not where they “should” be.
We’re looking for someone who:
· Has experience in Early Years and/or SEND environments
· Is attentive and tuned into children’s individual ways of communicating
· Can think on their feet when plans change (because they will)
· Understands that patience isn’t passive – it’s active and intentional
If you can turn a cardboard box into a spaceship, you’ll fit right in.
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Minimum qualifications required – A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or a background in education or care (NVQ, CACHE, Degree or equivalent)
· Experience supporting children with SEND
· Passionate working with young children or adults with disabilities
