A vacancy has arisen for a full-time Electrical Tradesperson at PD Ports within the Cranes Team. Working as part of a problem-solving engineering team who are responsible for the preventative maintenance, inspection, fault-finding, diagnosis and repair of the port’s crane assets. These assets are predominantly; mobile harbour cranes, rubber tyred gantry cranes and ship-to-shore container cranes, all incorporating a diverse range of power distribution systems, electrical equipment and industrial communication networks.
Location: Tees Dock, Middlesbrough.
Working Arrangements: 162.5 hours per month.
The five main things our Advanced Tradesperson will be working on are:
· Responsible for maintaining the reliability and availability of critical port equipment, while responding to breakdowns and technical issues.
· Diagnosing and rectifying faults safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to operational activities.
· A high level of electrical knowledge in the following areas; safe isolation procedure and safe working practices, electromechanical devices, electric motors and drivetrains, power electronics converters, motor control methods and switching devices.
· Experience with fault finding and repairs on the following industrial communication networks; Canbus, Asibus, Profibus, Profinet, Fibre Optic
· An understanding of PLC software and hardware, including but not limited to Siemens Step5/Step7, ABB, Danfoss and CoDeSys.
We are seeking someone who:
· Holds a minimum of 2+ years’ experience working in heavy industry following the completion of a formally recognised and relevant engineering apprenticeship.
· Qualified to ONC/Level 3 (or equivalent as a minimum requirement), however HNC/HND is preferred.
· A full UK driving licence, necessary for the role.
· The ability to read, understand and interpret complex electrical drawings.
- Possesses excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to maintenance activities alongside exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
