We are seeking a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist to join an innovative Care Leavers Project on a 3-year fixed-term TEWV contract.This exciting role will enhance and expand psychological support for care-experienced young people, building on existing provision while developing new, co-produced and collaborative approaches across York and North Yorkshire.
Working alongside consultant clinical leads and partner agencies, you will play a key role in developing and improving psychologically informed and trauma-responsive leaving care services. You will become part of an established multi-agency network across Children's Services and wider partner organisations.
You will provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for care leavers with complex needs. Whilst offering consultation, support and advice to Leaving Care (Pathway) Teams and partner agencies.The post holder will deliver training, teaching and reflective practice to Leaving Care Teams, Children's Services, Adult Mental Health Services, Housing Services and wider networks.You will support multi-agency collaboration and strengthening engagement across services and lead and contribute to service development, evaluation and quality improvement initiatives using qualitative and quantitative data.
The post holder will provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and evidence-based interventions for care leavers with complex needs, including trauma and attachment difficulties. They will adapt interventions to improve engagement, support transitions to adult services, and deliver individual, brief and group-based therapeutic interventions.
They will provide psychological consultation across the system, contributing psychological expertise to multi-agency care planning across Children's Services, Adult Services, Mental Health Services and the VCSE sector.
The postholder will improve access to mental health support by promoting early intervention, supporting young people to navigate services, strengthening community links and reducing reliance on crisis care.
They will contribute to developing and evaluating the care leavers' mental health offer, co-design resources, develop group programmes and support quality improvement through audit, outcome measures and service evaluation.
The role includes facilitating reflective practice, receiving clinical supervision, contributing to the supervision of trainees and other staff where appropriate, and maintaining high standards of safeguarding, clinical governance and risk management.
Working in partnership with care leavers and their networks, the postholder will promote co-production and ensure services remain accessible, responsive and shaped by the voices of young people.

- Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
