About the Role
There are two distinct parts to this role.
Enable family carers to have their voices heard, valued, and used to improve council services across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. You’ll work closely with the BCP Learning Disability Partnership Board, supporting carers to attend and input their own views at BCP Strategic and Action groups.
You will also coordinate the family carer work that Minstead Trust offers to families of the people we support across the Trust in Portsmouth, New Forest and BCP.
What You’ll Do
- Build collaborative relations with family carers to fully understand their priorities and experiences.
- Organise a range of opportunities (online and in person) for families to actively participate in co-production, consultation and feedback, including the monthly online BCP Carers Forum and support the Minstead Trust Online Carers Communities.
- Support carers to participate in BCP strategic groups like the BCP Learning Disability Partnership Board, Big Plan implementation, and Day Opportunity working groups.
- Co-ordinate communications with Minstead Trust families and support Minstead Trust services in how they work with families
- Represent carers in wider strategic discussions in BCP and Minstead Trust and ensure their voices shape local services
- Chair meetings, provide reports and meeting minutes.
Who We’re Looking For
- A confident communicator who can listen and support people to speak up for themselves and build strong relationships.
- A self-starter who’s passionate about inclusion, co-production and community impact
- Someone who can pull together information and activity from different places, make connections and keep on top of developments.
- Experience with adult social care and health structures and with carers is desirable—but drive, and empathy are essential
