University College London (UCL) wishes to appoint a Lecturer (Teaching) in Economics and Finance of the Built Environment. The post holder will be based at The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction at the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, a world-leading faculty ranked #1 in the world for Built Environment studies and #1 in the UK for its research environment. The post holder will carry out teaching, research, and programme administration within the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, in the field of economics and finance of the built environment, consistent with the vision and mission of The School. This is an open-ended, full-time position.
The successful applicant will be expected to lead or co-lead modules across our Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught programmes in Economics and Finance of the Built Environment, with a particular focus on economics and finance relating to construction, real estate development and infrastructure. They will deliver high quality interdisciplinary teaching across designated modules and contribute to programme and curriculum development as required by the Director of School. They will also support programme delivery by working with Programme Directors and Module Coordinators to contribute to student experience, assessment and examination activities, and provide personal tutoring and pastoral care.
The role also involves investing time in scholarship, professional development and research to support research-based education, and keeping up to date with developments in research, learning and teaching and relevant UCL initiatives.
The appointee is required to have a higher degree in economics and finance and/or a sustainable construction related discipline, together with excellent knowledge of economics and finance for construction and infrastructure. They will have a proven track record of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level and experience of programme design and module management within higher education.
They will also have experience of contributing to programme administration and education-related activities, including examination processes and student support. The successful candidate will have experience of providing pastoral support to students, effective communication skills, and excellent organisational and time management skills. They will be able to work collaboratively with colleagues and students from a wide range of backgrounds and demonstrate a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and continuous professional development.
