LRL Education is seeking an experienced, adaptable and relationship-focused AP Tutor to join our growing alternative provision in Swinton.
This is an opportunity to work differently from mainstream education. You will lead education for individual learners and small groups of no more than six pupils within a calm, structured and supportive environment.
Our learners may have experienced disrupted education, low confidence, poor attendance, social, emotional or mental health needs, or difficulty engaging successfully within a traditional school setting. The successful candidate will understand that progress begins with strong professional relationships, clear routines, appropriate challenge and carefully planned opportunities for success.
The role
The AP Tutor will take primary responsibility for delivering LRL Education’s morning academic programme and supporting individual and small-group tuition during the afternoons.
You will work mainly with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 learners, delivering education that is purposeful, accessible and matched to individual starting points.
The role will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons across English, mathematics, science, PSHE and wider curriculum areas
- Teaching individual learners and small groups of up to six pupils
- Delivering targeted one-to-one and small-group tuition
- Completing baseline assessments and using the outcomes to inform teaching
- Taking responsibility for the educational progress, engagement and day-to-day support of an identified tutor group
- Following Individual Learning Plans and adapting teaching to meet pupils’ identified needs
- Maintaining accurate records of learning, progress, attendance and engagement
- Preparing appropriate resources and evidence of pupil work
- Supporting learners to develop confidence, resilience, ambition, communication, leadership and life skills
- Promoting positive attendance, routines, behaviour and readiness to learn
- Supporting Functional Skills and GCSE preparation where appropriate
- Contributing to pupil progress discussions and internal quality assurance
- Working closely with the Director, operational staff, schools, families and other professionals
- Supporting pupil collections and drop-offs where required
- Providing additional support during enrichment, physical activity, vocational learning and community-based activities
- Following all safeguarding, health and safety, behaviour and organisational procedures

Salary and working arrangements
The salary for this role is £30,000 to £36,000 per annum, dependent on qualifications, experience and the range of subjects the successful candidate can confidently deliver.
