Brighter Pathways is excited to announce the opening of our new, beautiful four-bedroom children's residential home in Bidford-on-Avon, Warwickshire.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our leadership team and play a key role in establishing and developing our new home.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about children's residential care and wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
As a new provider, you will have the opportunity to help shape the culture, practice and development of the home from the very beginning. You will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure that the home provides a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment where young people can flourish.
About the Role
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the effective day-to-day management of the home and take responsibility for the home in their absence.
You will provide strong leadership to the residential childcare team, ensuring that staff understand their responsibilities and consistently provide high-quality care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day management of the home.
- Taking leadership responsibility for the home in the Registered Manager's absence.
- Leading, motivating and developing the residential childcare team.
- Promoting a positive, nurturing and therapeutic environment for young people.
- Supporting the implementation and review of care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans.
- Ensuring safeguarding concerns are identified, responded to and appropriately recorded.
- Monitoring staff practice and ensuring that care is delivered in accordance with legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Supporting staff through supervision, mentoring, coaching and performance management.
- Leading shifts and ensuring appropriate staffing arrangements are maintained.
- Supporting the Registered Manager with recruitment, induction and staff development.
- Ensuring records, logs and documentation are accurate, up to date and maintained to a high standard.
- Supporting preparation for Ofsted inspections and ensuring the home remains inspection ready.
- Promoting positive relationships between young people, staff, families, professionals and other agencies.
- Supporting and facilitating family contact where required.
- Organising and participating in activities, appointments, meetings and events.
- Supporting young people to develop independence, confidence and life skills.
- Responding appropriately to incidents, safeguarding concerns, missing-from-care episodes and challenging behaviour.
- Participating in the home's on-call arrangements.
- Supporting the Registered Manager with Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 requirements.
- Ensuring that young people's voices, wishes and feelings are central to the care they receive.
- Taking responsibility for household management, health and safety and maintaining a high standard within the home.

As Deputy Manager, you will play an important role in embedding these approaches within the staff team and ensuring that practice remains child-centred and consistent.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people.
- Experienced within children's residential childcare or a closely related setting.
- Confident in leading and supporting a team.
- Able to remain calm and professional during challenging situations.
- Organised and able to manage competing priorities.
- Confident with safeguarding, risk management and professional recording.
- Committed to reflective and therapeutic practice.
- Able to build positive relationships with young people, families and professionals.
- Ambitious about their own career development and the development of others.
- Prepared to lead by example and take responsibility.
Experience of working within a children's residential home and previous leadership or senior experience would be highly desirable.
Applicants who hold, or are working towards, a relevant Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Residential Childcare, or equivalent, are encouraged to apply.
