About Us
Aviura Limited develops high-performance, sustainable additive solutions (masterbatches) for the plastics and packaging industry. We focus on replacing traditional chemicals with renewable, plant-based alternatives for applications in food packaging, medical textiles, and agriculture.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced R&D Industrial Chemist to take full ownership of our product development pipeline. You will manage the entire lifecycle, from initial raw material research and lab-scale formulation, through to pilot-scale production and technology transfer to manufacturing partners. You will also build and mentor a small laboratory team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the extraction, purification, and characterisation of plant-based active ingredients for use in polymer applications.
- Develop and optimise masterbatch formulations using biodegradable polymers (e.g., PLA, PHBV, PBS) and advanced encapsulation techniques to ensure stability and performance.
- Manage process mapping, select appropriate equipment, author SOPs, and prepare technical dossiers for the smooth transfer of products from R&D to commercial production.
- Establish robust QC frameworks (analytical testing, stability protocols) and maintain a structured digital database for all experimental data, using standard statistical tools to drive decision-making.
Essential Requirements
- PhD (or equivalent demonstrable experience) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Materials Science.
- Hands-on expertise in green extraction and purification of plant-derived compounds (e.g. ultrasound-assisted extraction, chromatography).
- Strong analytical chemistry and QC background, including HPLC and LC–MS/MS, SOP authoring, and stability testing.
- Demonstrable experience with nano-encapsulation or lipid-carrier formulation.
- Experience leading or contributing to technology-transfer / scale-up projects.
Why Join Us?
This is a unique opportunity to lead a sustainable "green chemistry" initiative from the ground up, with direct ownership of the entire technical strategy and team building.
