About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Playworker / Activity Leader to join our after-school wraparound club at Herstmonceux Primary School. Working closely with the Site Manager, you will help create a safe, energetic, and welcoming environment where children can unwind after the school day.
This role is a mix of delivering fun, inclusive activities and taking charge of the daily healthy snack preparation. It is perfect for someone looking for rewarding, part-time afternoon hours in childcare.
Key ResponsibilitiesActivity Delivery & Play
- Lead and participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including arts and crafts, team sports, board games, and creative play.
- Ensure all children are actively included, engaged, and supervised safely during play.
- Help set up activity equipment before the children arrive and assist with pack-down at the end of the session.
Food Preparation & Hygiene
- Take responsibility for preparing and serving daily healthy, balanced afternoon snacks for the children.
- Strictly manage and adhere to children's specific dietary requirements, food allergies, and intolerances.
- Maintain excellent hygiene standards in the food preparation area, ensuring clean surfaces, proper food storage, and washing up are completed daily.
Welfare & Safety
- Assist the Site Manager in supervising children during the transition from classrooms to the club and during parent pick-ups.
- Promote positive behavior, kindness, and respect among the children.
- Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, and first aid procedures to ensure a secure environment.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: Experience working with primary school-aged children (in a school, club, camp, or similar setting) is highly valued.
- Food Hygiene: Basic knowledge of food hygiene practices. A Food Safety Level 2 certificate is ideal, though training can be provided.
- Attributes: A warm, approachable personality with high energy and a reliable, team-player attitude.
- Qualifications: A relevant Level 2 qualification in Childcare or Playwork is a plus, but we welcome applications from candidates with the right experience and passion.
- Compliance: Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check and follow safeguarding guidelines.
