Nene Valley Day Nursery is looking for a passionate, experienced, and motivated Deputy Nursery Manager to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced early years professional who is ready to take the next step in their career and support the Nursery Manager in delivering outstanding care and education.
As Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and education are maintained. You will lead by example, inspire the team, and help create a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Nursery Manager with the daily operation of the nursery.
- Lead the nursery confidently in the Manager's absence.
- Ensure compliance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and all safeguarding requirements.
- Monitor and support the quality of teaching, learning, observations, assessments, and planning.
- Supervise, coach, mentor, and support staff through regular supervision and appraisals.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, external professionals, and regulatory bodies.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and help prepare for Ofsted inspections.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for all children.
- Ensure policies and procedures are consistently implemented across the nursery.
Essential Requirements
- Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (minimum requirement).
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working within an early years setting.
- Previous experience in a senior role such as Room Leader, Third in Charge, Senior Practitioner, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework, safeguarding, child protection, SEND, and inclusion.
- Experience supervising, supporting, and mentoring staff.
- Confidence in observations, assessments, planning, and quality improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
Non Essential But Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Level 5 Diploma for the Early Years Senior Practitioner, Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
- Foundation Degree, BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies, or equivalent higher qualification.
- Experience supporting Ofsted inspections and continuous quality improvement.
- Experience carrying out staff supervision, coaching, and performance management.
- SENDCo or Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) training.

Pay: £29,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
