We are seeking an experienced Yard Operations Manager (Temperature-Controlled Environment) to oversee our daily yard logistics, site operations, and grounds upkeep. This role focuses on supervising teams responsible for two critical areas: the safe reception and storage of raw materials under strict temperature specifications, and the pristine upkeep of the facility’s external environment. You will lead, schedule, and quality-check the work of yard operatives, material handlers, and groundskeeping personnel to ensure maximum efficiency, strict cold-chain compliance, and a very high standard of site presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grounds & Maintenance Supervision: Supervise and direct the team or contractors responsible for the upkeep of all gardens, lawns, and grounds within the site, ensuring they are consistently maintained to a very high, pristine standard.
- Site Upkeep & Quality Control: Inspect and take absolute ownership of overall site cleanliness, ensuring loading bays, roadways, and external storage zones are immaculate, organized, and safe.
- Temperature & Stock Management: Oversee the team monitoring raw material stocks held on-site, ensuring strict compliance with required temperature control zones.
- Cold-Chain Compliance: Ensure accurate temperature logs are kept, respond immediately to system alerts, and troubleshoot any cold-chain deviations or equipment failures.
- Equipment: Ensuring that all plant and equipment checks are being carried out daily.
- Team Leadership & Scheduling: Supervise, train, and rota yard staff, material handlers, and grounds maintenance personnel, driving high performance and accountability.
- Inbound & Outbound Logistics: Coordinate and oversee the safe, timely unloading of raw materials and dispatch of goods to production lines or transport vehicles.
- Health, Safety & Housekeeping: Enforce strict housekeeping rules, correct manual handling techniques, and ensure the safe operation of all groundskeeping machinery and material-handling equipment.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Yard Manager, Site Supervisor, or Facilities/Logistics Manager with strong experience supervising team members across logistics and/or grounds maintenance.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to delegate effectively and inspect work to ensure high standards.
- High attention to detail with an uncompromising attitude toward site presentation, landscaping standards, and organized storage.
- Solid understanding of temperature-controlled storage, monitoring equipment, or cold-chain integrity.
- Must have IOSH Managing Safely certification
- Full driving licence
- Counterbalance FLT licence
