This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and professional technical team as a Graduate Engineer (Civil). You will be based at our offices in Caterham (Surrey) with regular visits to live development sites as required.
What you'll be doing:
As a Graduate Engineer (Civil) you will quickly become a key member of our team, assisting in the preparation and issue of detailed engineering drawings and designs, working in line with agreed programmes to meet Company standards and requirements as well as all relevant regulatory requirements. This will include:

Engaging in developing technical and professional development, applying knowledge in workplace setting.

Helping to collect all technical site data e.g. topographical data from survey and soil investigation consultants, services details from utility companies and planning requirements from Local Authorities and receiving instructions for design work from Engineer.

Gaining an understanding of the geology, geotechnical and geo-environmental parameters of any allocated development by reading the soil investigation.

Understanding AutoCAD operations and the company drawing standards in producing engineering drawings, as directed by Engineer.

Preparing forms and collating information for necessary applications.

Assisting in the design and selection of an appropriate foundation solution. Including understanding/calculating the load transfer through the dwelling to the foundation.

Assisting in the vertical and horizontal design of the access road including construction make-up and detailing.
Assisting in the design of foul and surface water drainage systems understanding and ensuring hydraulic requirements are met. Understanding and designing SUDs as an integrated part of the development and drainage designs.

Skills & knowledge you'll bring:
Degree in Civil Engineering
Core IT skills including packages such as AutoCAD
Essential knowledge of current building regulations and NHBC requirements
Ability to produce simple working drawings
Good attention to details, organisation and willingness to follow structured processes and standards
Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a team
Positive attitude to learning, feedback and continuous development
