Pharmacy Assistant
ChemistCare Pharmacy is a trusted healthcare provider committed to delivering excellent patient care and pharmacy services. We are looking for a motivated, reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Pharmacy Assistant/Dispenser.
About the Role
As a Pharmacy Assistant/Dispenser, you will play an important part in the day-to-day running of the pharmacy and in providing a high standard of service to our patients.
This is a busy, fast-paced and varied role. The ability to multitask while maintaining excellent attention to detail, together with a genuine willingness to learn, is vital for this position.
The role is worked over five days per week, with all shifts finishing at 6:00 pm. Flexibility with availability is essential, and applicants must be comfortable working longer shifts and remaining on their feet for extended periods throughout the working day.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the accurate and efficient preparation and dispensing of prescriptions under the pharmacist’s supervision.
- Providing friendly and professional customer service.
- Responding appropriately to patient queries and referring clinical questions to the pharmacist.
- Managing stock levels, receiving deliveries and helping to ensure medicines are available when required.
- Operating the till and serving customers.
- Supporting the pharmacist and other team members with the smooth running of the pharmacy.
- Managing several tasks and changing priorities without compromising accuracy or patient care.
- Following all relevant pharmacy procedures, legal requirements and safety guidelines.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Essential Experience Requirement
Previous experience working in a community pharmacy is essential.
Only applicants with direct community pharmacy experience will be considered. Experience in care homes, nursing homes, GP surgeries or other healthcare settings will not be accepted as a substitute for community pharmacy experience.
Applications that do not clearly show relevant community pharmacy experience may not receive a response.

- Availability to work over five days per week, with shifts finishing at 6:00 pm.
- Flexibility to provide additional cover for staff holidays, sickness and busy periods when required.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to work independently when required while also contributing positively to the wider pharmacy team.
- The physical ability to remain standing for extended periods and safely lift or move pharmacy stock and deliveries.
