1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant – Primary School
Location: Borehamwood, WD6
Start Date: September 2026
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
Contract: School term-time only
Salary: £95–£110 per day, depending on experience
We are seeking a caring, dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Borehamwood from September 2026.
As a 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with a pupil, providing tailored support throughout the school day. You will help them to engage with learning, develop confidence and build positive relationships with staff and peers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with SEN
- Supporting the child with their learning, communication and social development
- Helping to implement individual learning and support strategies
- Encouraging positive behaviour and independence
- Building a trusting and supportive relationship with the pupil
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
- Supporting the pupil both inside and outside the classroom
- Creating a positive, inclusive and encouraging learning environment
The ideal candidate will be:
- Passionate about working with children and supporting their development
- Patient, caring and empathetic
- Confident in providing 1:1 support
- Reliable and enthusiastic
- Able to build positive relationships with children
- A strong communicator and team player
- Previous experience working with SEN is desirable, but not essential for the right candidate
