Job Purpose
The MET Technician is responsible for the removal, repair, refitting, and replacement of mechanical, electrical, and trim components on damaged vehicles. Working to manufacturer specifications and insurance industry standards, the technician ensures vehicles are restored to their pre-accident condition safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Remove and refit mechanical, electrical, and trim components on a wide range of vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults resulting from accident damage.
- Conduct vehicle strip-down and damage assessment to identify additional repair requirements.
- Reassemble vehicles following repair, ensuring all components are fitted correctly and safely.
- Carry out vehicle diagnostics using manufacturer-approved and industry-standard equipment.
- Calibrate and test Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) where required.
- Repair or replace vehicle components including:
- Bumpers
- Doors
- Dashboards
- Wiring looms
- Lighting systems
- Airbag systems
- Suspension components
- Steering systems
- Interior trim
- Ensure all work complies with manufacturer repair methods and insurance company requirements.
- Complete quality control checks before vehicle handover.
- Maintain accurate repair records and job documentation.
- Work closely with estimators, panel technicians, painters, and workshop management.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and company procedures.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Previous experience as an MET Technician within a bodyshop or accident repair centre.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical and mechanical systems.
- Experience using diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and follow manufacturer repair instructions.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality standards.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- ATA Accreditation (or equivalent).
- Experience with EV and Hybrid vehicle repairs.
- ADAS calibration experience.
- Manufacturer-specific training certifications.

Salary Range: £35,000 to £52500+ Claimed hours bonus - per annum depending on experience and qualifications .
Pay: £35,000.00-£52,500.00 per year
