Overview
Lead the kitchen of an established and popular pub in a rural historic village. The Horseshoe and Castle is a historical pub that has been a layover property for over 150 years. Currently offering a bar, restaurant and B&B accommodation all of a high standard and reviews to reflect this. We combine the old charm of a village pub with modern and contemporary rooms and dining. The dining experience is the heart of our hospitality.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced chef to maintain our reputation and continue to create the exceptional food experience, to continue to serve with the care and pride we have that keeps our customers returning again and again.
Your role will be to oversee the kitchen operation whilst working closely with the owners to create the menu, maintain the menu and deliver the menu.

Duties
- Oversee daily food production, ensuring all dishes meet quality and presentation standards.
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. Holding a passive and creative atmosphere in the kitchen.
- Prepare a variety of menu items with precision, creativity, and consistency.
- Manage food safety protocols, including proper storage, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
- Coordinate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, maintain a price reference process to ensure value, and minimise waste.
- IDEAL EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen or fresh food culinary setting.
- Extensive food production and preparation skills with a strong foundation in cooking techniques.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with effective team management skills whilst being able to take direction and also good self supervision skills.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices within the hospitality industry. Qualifications and certificates to demonstrate this.
- Previous small restaurant experience is highly preferred where time management is paramount during high paced periods of service and also the low periods for prep and cleaning.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Pay: £17.32 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
