The role
As a support worker with Flamingo, you will help the people you support to live as independently as possible, with dignity and choice. This covers supported living, mental health and learning disability support, complex care, community outreach, domiciliary support, young people’s services and waking nights.
A Full UK driving licence is required for this role.
Day to day, you will:
- Provide personal care and practical support tailored to each person’s needs
- Encourage independence, confidence and engagement in everyday activities
- Support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Assist with medication where trained and required
- Keep accurate, timely and confidential records
- Safeguard the people in your care at all times
What you will need (essential)
- Relevant care experience and training, including the Care Certificate where applicable
- The right to work in the UK
- An enhanced DBS check, or PVG scheme membership in Scotland or AccessNI in Northern Ireland. We can help you obtain this.
- Mandatory training in date, for example safeguarding, moving and handling, and medication administration where required
- Occupational health clearance in line with the setting
- Contactable references covering your recent employment
Desirable
- Specialist training such as positive behaviour support (PBS), MAPA, PMVA or similar
- Experience in learning disability, autism, mental health, complex care or young people’s services
- A full UK driving licence
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care
