Salary: £10,187 per annum (£25,469 Full-Time Equivalent)
Hours: 15 hours per week, worked over weekends with occasional weekday shift
Typical Shift: 8:00am to 4:00pm

At Bury Hospice, we know that a good meal can bring comfort, dignity and enjoyment when it is needed most. We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Weekend Cook to join our Catering Team, preparing nutritious, appetising meals for patients, visitors, staff and volunteers.
About the Role
Working under the direction of the Catering Manager, you will:
- Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals in line with menu plans and dietary requirements.
- Ensure food is presented and served to a consistently high standard.
- Support dietary, allergen, nutritional and cultural requirements.
- Maintain food hygiene, health and safety standards at all times.
- Complete food safety records, temperature checks and associated documentation.
- Operate catering equipment safely and report maintenance issues.
- Monitor stock levels, rotate stock and minimise food waste.
- Receive and store deliveries appropriately.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment.
- Work effectively with colleagues and volunteers.
- Attend mandatory training and development activities.
- Provide cover during periods of annual leave and sickness absence as required
About You
You'll have:
- Previous catering or cooking experience
- Good knowledge of food hygiene and food safety practices
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- A flexible and reliable approach
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A genuine passion for cooking, baking, and preparing nutritious, wholesome meals.
Desirable:
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
- Experience in a healthcare, hospice, care home or hospital setting
